Like when Luke Skywalker superseeded Darth Vader and Bush Jr. took the reins from his old man at the White House, there comes a time in every father's life when he must admit his son is the stronger force.
Unfortunately, it seems Father Christmas doesn't have that much faith in his son. Keen to help his Dad deliver the presents, Baby Santa has been snubbed and told to go back home to the North Pole.
Baby Santa doesn't want to though, and has chosen to collect all the missing coin presents in order to prove Pops wrong.
Obviously none of what I've just said is true, but nevertheless, that's the premise of this distinctly average platformer for Java phones.
Assuming the role of Santa Jr. , you must jump the walls, mount the ledges and avoid the obstacles in order to collect all the coins. After scooping up all the bootie from one level you can progress to the next.
Graphically, Baby Santa is fairly impressive - there are some cute characters, well-rendered backgrounds and nicely-executed effects. The control system is easy to master and, in fact, the only thing that lets the overall presentation down is the feeble sound effects lack of a backing track to the action.
In terms of its gameplay Baby Santa offers nothing we haven't seen four zillion times before and is somewhat flawed by the fact you can't kill baddies by jumping on them.
In fact, you can't kill them at all. Ultimately that means the only skill involved is your ability to jump platforms, which becomes a little tiresome after a while.
